John 3:6 that which is born of
the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
When our earthly parents gave birth to
us, we were born of the flesh, but the new birth is spiritual, that is, when we
were born anew, it was our spirit. If we take a very close look at the
scripture above, it says, that which is
born of the Spirit is spirit. It is our spirit (the true self) that is born
again.
It is always
important that we know that man is a spirit being. Man is not spiritual (that
is like a spirit) but he is a spirit being himself. The first man that was
created died as a result of sin, so all died in him. But having come to BELIEVE
the exchange sacrifice on the cross, we became born again. My emphasis in this
article is on the new creature.
IN CHRIST
Our new birth
is created in Christ. Check this out:
Ephesians 2:10 For WE ARE HIS WORKMANSHIP, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which
God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
We are God’s workmanship, His handmade
work created in Christ Jesus. The new man work by different set of rules. We
became a new creation at the time we believe the faith (i.e. the death and
resurrection of Jesus).
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be
in Christ, he is A NEW CREATURE: old things are passed away; behold, all
things are become new.
The bible says if any man, I mean if
anybody is in Christ he is a new man. In fact it says OLD THINGS ARE PASSED
AWAY(THE CROSS AND US) and all things are now new. The scripture didn’t say old things are become
new. It says old things are PASSED AWAY (that is dead). What we now see is
entirely new. If we take a close look at this scripture above, it started with
THEREFORE, concluding from some sort of proceeding statements.
2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ
constraineth us; because WE THUS JUDGE, THAT IF ONE DIED FOR ALL, THEN WERE ALL
DEAD:
We thus judge, that is: This is our
judgement or conclusion that if Jesus died then we all died. If we walk out of
sin into righteousness we are the same person. But what happened was that we
died has a sinner and we were born righteous.
Romans 6:11 Likewise RECKON ye also YOURSELVES TO BE DEAD INDEED UNTO SIN, but alive
unto God THROUGH JESUS CHRIST our Lord.
The word creature in 2 Corinthians 5:21 is translated
from the Greek word ktisis which also mean CREATION. In
fact the
amplified rendition read:
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any
person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is A NEW CREATION (a
new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition]
has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!
A creation is a creature and his world.
The new creation lives in the realm of God. He lives by different set of rules.
What happens to Adam does not happen to
him. He has become a new creature. He has a new identity. Wow, I pray that God open our eyes that we
may see this and realize how much that is embedded in the new life.
