As a music artist,
there are some very important things in serving what we cook. I will like to
call them the three ‘S’ of a gospel
music artist. This will help in being the best music artist or minister we want
to be. This three S are Skill, Sound and the Spirit (Anointing).
Skill: The skill
is very important, I mean 100% important. One important thing to note is that,
Skill recommends us. Don’t forget that
when you sing as a minister, you are not ministering to angels who don’t have an appealing mind as ours. The skill gets the attention of many of our audience. Well
I kind of think that except for beef, no one should naturally hate skill. One great
example of this recommendation benefit of skill can be seen in the story of Saul
and David in the bible. The bible said an evil spirit troubled Saul and they
needed someone to come to the palace to play the harp which should appease to Saul’s
display. Please note what the servant of Saul said:
1 Samuel 16:16 Let our lord now command thy servants, which
are before you, to seek out a man, who is a CUNNING PLAYER on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil
spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shall
be well.
They needed a man who could play skillful. The word CUNNING PLAYER
here is from a Hebrew word that translates SKILLFULLY as seen in some
other versions of the bible. So David was a skillful player in all the music he
was into. David’s skill was his curriculum vitae that recommended him to the
palace before the king. No wonder, he being inspired by the Holy Ghost instructed
us to play skillfully, in the Psalms 33:3.
Note: I am not saying that if you are not playing or singing skillfully,
you are not touching the heart of God but the thing is don’t stop there. Put more
effort and investment in rehearsal.
God Is not anti skill.
As a singer, do all you can to get the necessary vocal and music skills.
I look forward to continuing on the other S...
