KIRK FRANKLIN TO WRITE THE OFFICIAL SONG OF THE 2012 WORLD CHOIR GAMES IN CINCINNATI

Grammy-award winning gospel singer Kirk Franklin will write the official song of the 2012 World Choir Games in Cincinnati this summer. 

This largest international choral competition in the world held every two years, World Choir Games Contest officials said on Friday that Franklin also will perform the song at the July 4 opening ceremony when choirs from dozens of countries gather for the international competition.

The gospel musician and choir director also has led urban contemporary gospel choirs including The Family, God's Property and One Nation Crew. He is also host and executive producer of the gospel talent show "Sunday Best" on the BET network.
The Previous games of this Olympics of choral music have been in Austria, China, Germany and South Korea. This will be the 7th World Choir Games, and it’s being held in the United States for the first time July 4-14 in Cincinnati USA.

Nearly 400 choirs from 49 countries have registered for the games which are expected to draw tens of thousands of spectators. There are roughly 80 regional choirs, and choirs representing 25 U.S. states.
The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra and May Festival Chorus also will perform at the opening ceremonies at U.S. Bank Arena. —CINCINNATI (Associate Press)
